- Week 3: Day 6

Good Evening Sheridan,
No news yet. From our Divisional Executive Chair RM Kennedy tonight, “The parties remain under a voluntary media blackout at the request of the mediator, and negotiations continue.”
So please do not let up on being in Strike Mode. Write to your MPPs, they’re back in their constituency offices this week. ‘Find Your MPP’ is the first link on our website, www.local244.ca. You will also find a link to the College Employer Council (CEC), write to them – demand that their bargaining team address our core concerns.
I will email you immediately upon hearing any news. Please be ready to get back to the picket lines Monday as per usual. We must show up in force and send a message that we are determined to see this through. Getting back to the table with us is not enough if the CEC just brings back their previous ‘final offer’. They must come with a compromise. Our sacrifice must yield an acceptable return.

On a more personal note, with sadness I share with you the tragic death of one of our colleagues from Conestoga College. Amy Stiles was killed in a head-on collision, on her way home from the rally on Thursday. She leaves her husband and three young children.
Our Union Local will donate to her kids’ educational fund, in accordance with the CAAT-A Division’s communication with her family. We send our condolences to the Stiles Family and our colleagues up the road at Conestoga.
In solidarity,
Jack
